Here's one solution if you have a lot of unwanted critters, best to put in the garage or barn.

This Victor Electronic trap worked great for me... within a few days, for one mouse. The mouse goes inside a tunnel to get the peanut butter, steps on a metal plate and is electrocuted (it's battery operated, safe and very hard to reach for pets). (Yes, it kills, but if you release a live mouse outside your house, you can bet it's coming back inside.) This is safe, easy to use, and won't poison the neighborhood cats or raptors. Disposal was clean and easy.
